Five Spice Beef Fried Rice
VH Asian 5 Spice Stir-Fry Sauce adds a satisfying flavour to a traditional recipe of beef fried rice. Our unique blend of star anise, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed and ginger enhances the flavours of the rice and vegetables.

Five Spice Beef Fried Rice

  • 2 tbsp (30mL) vegetable oil
  • 1 lbs (500g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, peeled and minced
  • ½ head small cabbage, sliced thin
  • 1 green pepper and 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 large eggs, beaten well
  • ½ cup (125mL) VH® Asian 5 Spice Stir-Fry Sauce
  • 1 ½ cups (375mL) cooked rice
  • 5 green onions, trimmed and sliced fine, for garnish

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon (15mL) oil in large skillet or wok, brown beef and onion, remove from pan.

  2. Add 1 teaspoon (5mL) of oil to pan, heat, add vegetables, cook until vegetables are crisp tender, remove from pan.

  3. Add 1 teaspoon oil (5mL) to pan, add eggs and cook until hard scrambled, remove from pan, scrape pan clean.

  4. Add remaining oil, add rice and stir-fry for 5 minutes until glossy and hot. Stir in vegetables, beef and VH® Asian 5 Spice Sauce. Stir until everything is heated through.

  5. Fold in cooked egg and garnish with green onion.
